Order! The Improvised Pirate Trial – Saturday 16th June 2018

Order! The Improvised Pirate Trial

Saturday 16th June 2018

Gaargh, ye scurvy dogs! There’s an improvised pirate trial every half hour from 11.30am-3.30pm at the Furthest From the Sea Festival in Derby! We’re taking our sell-out show from the National Justice Museum onto the high seas this weekend. Completely family and pirate friendly, we’re delighted to be rocking a big tent in Derby Market Place!

What’s the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?
What’s the meanest thing you’ve ever said?
What’s the most guilty you’ve ever felt?

Join us in Derby for Order!  Based on your confession, we’ll put a pirate on trial for YOUR crimes. Maybe you untied someone’s hammock… Perhaps you called the captain a rude word… The performers won’t know their crime until they get to the dock, and the judge doesn’t know the punishment.

Each trial is a unique and hilarious experience, never to be seen again after the audience decides the fate of the poor defendant.

On Saturday 16th June, Derby comes alive with creativity at the annual Furthest from the Sea Music, Comedy & Arts Festival, taking place between 11am and 4pm on the Market Place in Cathedral Quarter Derby

Showcasing and celebrating the diverse local arts scene, the festival aims to encourage people of all ages to get involved and discover everything Derbyshire has to offer through a series of interactive workshops, family friendly performances and newly commissioned street theatre.

It’s a Double Show Week! Gorilla Burger and Consenting Partners!

Double Trouble, Two’s Company and other cliches don’t really describe the joy this week brings. First up – the regular random chaotic genius that is Gorilla Burger, followed on Saturday by the fractionally more refined and theatrical Consenting Partners. Both are awesome, which one will win? There’s only one way to find out…

Gorilla Burger: Show Off or Watch the Show

Get up on stage, get matched with a selection of other performers and get it on (theatrically! Honestly, it’s not really that kind of show). This is improvised comedy theatre and together we’ll be brilliant.

All you have to do is stick your name in the hat – the receptacle of randomness – and you’ll be drawn, partnered and slung on stage. Your choice of game or scene will guide you in an episode of spontaneous theatre.

Of course, you don’t have to give us your name. You can remain happily anonymous in the audience, settle back with a pint and enjoy the show.

It’s probably the best mash up of cleverness, silliness, drinking and theatre you’ll find.

*Don’t forget that this month we’re in the salubrious surroundings supplied by the Ned Ludd’s upstairs space.

Improv Jam – Thursday 7 January 2016

This week’s jam: Yes, And It’s A New Year

This week’s improv jam is brought to you by: Parky and the words “yes, and”say-yes-and-say-and

Happy New Year one and all. It’s been a busy and cake-filled holiday and, after a couple of weeks where the jam coincided with Jesus and lunar based celebrations, we’re back this week for a resumption of improvised nonsense.

In order to flex everyone’s muscle (fnar) we’ll be easing in gently with some gentle warm-ups and lots of “yes, and” action. Mmmm. Agreement. My favourite New Year thing.

Improv Jam – Thursday 3 December 2015

This week’s jam: Sing Until Your Lungs Give Out

This week’s improv jam is brought to you by: Parky

(some working knowledge of the above song will help this week!)

Everyone loves a sing-song. Whether you belt out a Beyonce classic in the shower or you sing hymns in a choir, there’s no-one that doesn’t enjoy exercising their vocal chords.

This week’s jam will involve a lot of singing. We’ll do some singy warm-up exercises (including a new game!) and then each of our lovely scenes will feature some element of singing. We’ll then even try to perform some short improvised musicals.

If you’re not prepared to make a fool of yourself by singing at the top if your voice, this jam is not for you…

All together now….
