Josie has been performing character stand-up for 12 years, having run and performed on numerous Edinburgh Fringe and Leicester Comedy Festival shows with Stags Woodward. In the last three or so years, she has discovered improv, attended various workshops and courses, co-run a weekly drop in online and in person in Derby, and been in Squares in the Round, Sisters Karazmatik and latterly the Vox Pops.
Larklord is a task-based show inspired by Taskmaster where a panel of five perform a series of silly tasks. It’s hosted by John James Morris and run through MissImp: Improv Comedy Nottingham.
Each show consists of a series of live tasks alongside some work-from-home tasks. They will all be varying degrees of nonsense but will not be demeaning. It should just be some online fun.
There will also be a prize task alongside a simple task for the poster to help advertise the show.
Examples of previous tasks include: Go on the Best at Home Holiday, Make the Best Exotic Sandwich, Make a piece of fruit or veg look like a celebrity, Create the Best Awareness Raising Video, Create the best beach scene in two minutes, etc. You don’t need to be any good at said tasks, any attempt will be funny.
The Work From Home tasks will be provided several weeks in advance with relevant instructions to attempt in your free time, and can be as simple or complex as you make them, whilst the live tasks will be a surprise to all those competing. We will support if you need it during the tasks, and they shouldn’t take that long to do, but do be aware there is a requirement of doing said tasks by the deadline – though you’re welcome to do them as quickly or as haphazardly as you’d like!
We are currently running this through Streamyard so you will need an okay internet connection and preferably a headset to cut down on sound delay. We can test the tech out in advance of the show. We can also likely accommodate not-so-good tech.
The show is currently just for fun and isn’t paid, though I will ensure you have the opportunity to promote yourself throughout. I will try to keep it zero cost, but if there is a cost I will happily reimburse, so please ask.
Please feel free to apply if you’ve competed on the show before – so long as you’re not participating in the season one finale. If chosen, you’ll be invited to one episode, and if you win said episode, you’ll be asked to return for the Series Finale.
We aim to have a balanced panel for each show, so we may ask you about your gender, sexuality, ethnicity, any disabilities, and anything else you feel is relevant.
We’re also interested in presenting a wide range of people who may or may not have any involvement with comedy or improvisation, so please don’t feel like you may not be suitable just because you don’t do stand up or improv.
Any questions, please feel free to email john@missimp.co.uk.
Please note Season Two is now pretty much booked. Do feel free to fill out the form below and I’ll consider you for backups on episodes, as well as for future seasons.

During the coronavirus outbreak, MissImp has continued to offer entirely free online activities for our community, including commissioning an ongoing series of paid virtual drop-ins from improvisers around the world, fortnightly online Gorilla Burger shows and more. If you’d like to help us keep these activities going and keep our lights on we’d be immensely grateful. Together, we can get through this.
