This week’s drop-in: Acting on an Improv Stage
Brought to you by Sophie.
We focus heavily on teamwork, agreement and yes-anding the hell out of everything. We don’t spend as much time on how we inhabit the stage, and what it means to be acting as well as improvising.
This week, we’ll be using theatre acting techniques in improv! Scenes are a lot more engaging when audiences forget they’re watching a show and start to believe in the emotion, giving the comedy bits a lot more depth. We’ll swap out your noggin for an actor’s head, to give your characters that extra believability.
Who dat Sophie?
Sophie Owen has been performing with Lace Market Theatre for four years, and have appeared in nine shows there. She won the NANDA Youth Festival Award for Best Actress in 2016. In September, she is off to study Theatre and Performance at the University of Leeds! We are simultaneously delighted and devastated.
