This week’s drop-in: All The Yes, All The Time
Brought to you by Parky.
I know that we bang on a lot about agreement in improvisation. However, it really is the golden rule to successful scenes, and so this week we’ll be encouraging you to not just say “yes”, but to do “yes”.
Blocking a scene is not necessarily just about saying “no”. It’s also about other things, such as accepting an idea and then suggesting one of your own. That’s also a kind of “no”, in that you’re taking your scene partner’s suggestion and, instead of running with it, you’re replacing it with a new idea of your own. Do that often enough and you get an entire scene of brand new ideas, without actually acting on any of them. How boring is that?
So, this week, be prepared to say “yes”, do “yes”, and be “yes”.
