This week’s drop-in: Hostage to Fortune
Brought to you by Richard.
The idea behind this week’s drop-in comes from a time when I was trying to do a walk on in The Vox Pops, and Ben stuck me in a chair and started cutting my hair… I just sat there panicked and people wet themselves (with laughter). There are lots of occasions in The Vox Pops where three people enter the stage by accident, rather than two. You can feel trapped and awkward being the third wheel.
But here’s the thing… In improv we’re supposed to support each another. We needn’t be afraid of being the scene’s gooseberry. So we’re going to focus on repeating small emotions with subtle variations to become comfortable on stage together, and then build that into scenes. Eventually, we’ll introduce being the third wheel and milk it for all its worth.
