Let’s Talk About It!
What is one thing that is present in almost every improv scene? Talking! Between two or more people, we are almost always using talking to establish, connect, build character and progress narrative.
When we talk in real life, there are several ‘unspoken rules’ we abide to that keep us in line with social convention…but when we break those rules: Disaster!
The same is true for improv! This workshop explores those social conventions and applies them to our improv to help us talk the talk.
Charlie is an award-winning improviser from Sheffield. She is 50% of eccentric 2-prov ‘Long Boi & The Noise’ and co-owns ‘Little Chicago Comedy Productions’. In her teaching, she likes to draw on her theatre background and her current speech therapist training, so expect wild vocal warm-ups and a lot of pretending to be a table.
This is the fifth all-female improv workshop put on by MissImp!
These workshops led by some of the most exciting female improvisers from our Nottingham community and beyond, and will focus on a specific area of improvisation unique to them!
Improv is the art of making up theatre and comedy on the spot, without any scripts or pre-planning. This workshop is for any female-identifying or non-binary individuals who feel they would benefit from or like to experience an all-female classroom environment. This is a safe space to try out new skills and support other women within our improv community!
We are always looking to encourage people to take on teaching roles within our community – if you would be interested in taking one (or part of) these workshops, please email us.
